New Moon Rep and Roust Theatre Company will present the world premiere of I Kreon, a contemporary verse adaptation by Aole T. Miller of the Sophocles classic drama Antigone. Directed by Aole T. Miller, I Kreon will begin performances on November 8, with the official opening scheduled for November 11. Performances will be at Walkerspace (46 Walker Street) in TriBeCa, and will continue through December 1.

"I Kreon focuses on Kreon's point of view. How does the leader of a shattered nation, a nation who's Towers have fallen, begin the process of rebuilding and reuniting that nation? How does he best honor the dead? What sacrifice is he willing to make to secure this rebuilt nation? Dealing with the issue of being an American today, I Kreon is set in the post-apocalyptic world of New Thebes and asks the poignant question, 'Can a modern ruler rebuilding a nation destroyed by terrorism be both a benevolent 'father' and an officer of the state?' It is a story of the struggle for love and community obligation, within a world of deception and fear. Written in verse with a contemporary spin, I Kreon challenges all who choose to blame others for the state of society. I Kreon questions the role of the community and the collective responsibility of its individuals," ask press notes.

The cast for I Kreon will be Claire Siebers, James Luse, Maggie Surovell, Max Arnaud, David Beck, Ian Eaton, Rebecca Hackett, Paul Harkins, Rafael Jordan and Ian Lowe.
