Stage and screen stars Hannah Waddingham and Ncuti Gatwa are slated to host two episodes of Saturday Night Live UK this May. Currently in its first season, the show airs in the UK each Saturday on Sky at 10 p.m. local time. It will stream on Peacock the next day in the US.
For the 9 May episode, Waddingham will be joined by singer-songwriter and BRIT award-winner Myles Smith as the musical guest. On 16 May, Gatwa will be joined by indie-pop singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone. These will mark the final two episodes of the season.
This Saturday’s (2 May) episode will be hosted by BAFTA-winning actor Aimee Lou Wood with music from British breakthrough artist, MEEK.
Live from London at 10 pm every Saturday night, each 75-minute episode will see a different host take to the stage alongside SNL UK’s inaugural cast: Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.
Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall and Nicola Caughlan have all taken on hosting duties for the series so far, with Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, Kasabian, Jorja Smith and Foo Fighters performing as musical guests.
Written, rehearsed and performed in the week of broadcast, each show is staged in front of a live studio audience and features an opening monologue, topical sketches, live music, and a UK adaptation of SNL’s iconic satirical news segment, Weekend Update.
SNL UK is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team and Broadway Video for Sky and NOW. Lorne Michaels is executive producing, James Longman will serve as Lead Producer, Liz Clare as Director and Daran Jonno Johnson takes on the role of Head Writer.
