Broadway's hottest "tribe" is searching high and low for energetic, talented and open-hearted hippies to join their ranks. It was announced today that the smash Broadway production of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical will be holding a non-Equity open casting call on Thursday, January 21 from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. at The Public Theater, 425 Lafayette Street, in preparation for the previously announced, upcoming cast change. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. All those auditioning must prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo pop or rock song with sheet music, and bring a headshot and a resume. For additional casting notes, please see attachment.
In the charitable spirit of the show, the producers of HAIR have organized a food drive for City Harvest to take place in tandem with the auditions. City Harvest, an organization dedicated to feeding New York City's hungry men, women and children, is asking for donations of canned goods, as food drive donations have been down this holiday season. HAIR is beseeching all attending hopefuls to bring canned food. "We found many of our current ‘Tribe' members on Broadway through this process several years ago. Joining the ‘Tribe' of HAIR is not about how much professional experience you've had as a performer; it's about who you are as a person -- your passion, your conviction as it relates to the material in the show. But you have to be a great singer. And great singing is not just about technique; it's about communication and conveying your emotion through your voice."Videos
