Gregory Maguire, who penned the novel on which the smash musical Wicked is based, is offering fans the chance to own part of his wardrobe as well as to spend phone time with the award-winning author.

Maguire is auctioning off both a pair of his shoes and a 30-minute phone interview "mentorship" on eBay as part of the "Get in Their Shoes" campaign to raise money for mentoring throughout the world. The auction will end on February 26th.

Other mentors in the campaign include Stephen Covey, James Baker, Ken Jennings, Bill Walton, and Stan Lee. In addition, fans can enter to win a Career Makeover, including a Treo 700 PDA, pair of new Birkenstocks, and professional image consultation.

The author, who delights in adding modern resonances to familiar stories and fairy tales, also penned Lost, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, Mirror Mirror, and such children's books as The Dream Stealer and The Good Liar. Son of a Witch is a sequel to Wicked, which was turned into the musical that is a smash on Broadway, in Chicago and on its national tour. Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, and is directed by Joe Mantello with choreography by Wayne Cilento.

Anyone interested in bidding on Maguire's auctions or those of others can go to www.ebay.com, enter "get in their shoes" as the keyword search, or visit www.getintheirshoes.org.
