Elaine Paige Concert Airs on BBC Radio, December 23

A concert by Elaine Paige, who has been called Britain's First Lady of Musical Theatre, will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on December 23rd at 7:30 PM.  Elaine Paige Sings the Musicals at Christmas will itself take place at Birmingham Symphony Hall on December 19th.

With guest appearances by John Barrowman (Putting It Together on Broadway, A Few Good Men, Anything Goes and many more in London) and actor/singer Danny Seward ("Where the Heart Is"), the concert will be broadcast as part of BBC Radio's "Friday Night is Music Night" series.  The BBC Concert Orchestra will also be featured.

Paige, who recently earned a Drama Desk nomination for her New York theatre debut as Mrs. Lovett in the New York City Opera's production of Sweeney Todd, was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1995.  She won an Olivier Award for originating the title role in Evita, and was also nominated for her performances in Chess, Anything Goes, Piaf and Sunset Boulevard.  She also created the role of Grizabella in Cats, and has also appeared in the West End in Billy, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, The King and I and others.  She hosts "Elaine Paige On Sunday," which airs on BBC Radio 2.
