Turning Over a New Leaf: Selected Botanical Works Group Exhibition runs June 25 through September 17, 2010 (The gallery is open by appointment in August)

The Edward Thorp Gallery will present a group show focusing on the theme of botanicals. The exhibition will address this subject through a variety of mediums including Paintings, Drawings, Prints, Photography, and Decorative Arts.

A variety of responses will be reflected on this topic from still life studies and landscapes to near abstractions and the fantastical- revealing inspired worlds full of complex realities. These works will both mesmerize and engage, illustrating otherworldly compositions that exhibit a sense of discovery. Nature, as this group show demonstrates, be it seemingly harnessed and adhering a sense of order or, uninhibited, endless and threatening or, alternately, a source of contemplative beauty, continues to be a limitless source of inspiration, fascination, and exploration.

Some of the artists to be included are John Altoon, Gandy Brodie, William De Morgan, William Eggleston, Robert Frank, Richard Ginori, Margaret Ponce Isreal, Judith Linhares, Justin McCarthy, Peter
Schmersal, Shawn Spencer, Fratelli Toso amongst others.

July hours: Tuesday -Friday 11am- 5pm, August open by appointment email: edwardthorpgallery@gmail.com
