Ensemble Studio Theatre, led by Producing Artistic Director William Carden, will present a week of world premiere short plays written and directed by the company's four Directors-in-Residence. The collection of one-acts, entitled Shatter, will be performed at E.S.T. (549 West 52nd Street) from May 16th to May 22nd. Each one-act will be performed every evening, giving the audience an opportunity to experience four very different directing styles.

The one-acts are, according to press notes:

Richard Matheson's The Last Day, a "world premiere adaptation of legendary horror/sci-fi author Richard Matheson's (I Am Legend, Duel, Stir of Echoes) riveting short story, Justin Quinn Pelegano explores the emotionally-charged reactions of six New Yorkers facing extinction."

Antigone Noir, in which "the dark worlds of film noir and Greek tragedy intersect in Destiny Lilly's modern musical adaptation of a Sophocles classic."

Andre? Ford's Eyez Watchin', which "tells the story a distinguished pastor and pillar of the African-American community who attempts to pick up a young hustler well versed in the life of the streets."

Mali and the Arc of the Covenant, "an absurdist look at the New York dating scene…and religious relic thievery, written and directed by Andrew Bergh."

Performances are Wednesday May 16th through Friday May 18th at 8PM; Saturday May 19th at 3 PM and 8 PM; Monday May 21st and Tuesday May 22nd at 8 PM. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door, online at www.theatermania.com, or by calling 212-352-3101.  EST is located at 549 West 52nd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues.  For more information, visit www.ensemblestudiotheatre.org
