Tony Award nominee De'Adre Aziza (Passing Strange, Women on the Verge), Rebecca Naomi Jones (Passing Strange, American Idiot), Doreen Montalvo (In the Heights, Giant), Javier Muñoz (In the Heights), Nik Walker (NYMF - Rio), and Andre Ward (Rock of Ages, Xanadu), complete the cast of the industry reading of the new musicalCUBAMOR.

Director Kent Nicholson, who serves as the Director of Musical Theater and Literary Associate at Playwrights Horizons, will direct the reading, and Daniel Sefik (In The Heights) will music direct.

Inspired by the 2001 film of the same name by Joshua Bee Alafia, CUBAMOR has a book by James D. Sasser, and music by Charles Vincent Burwell, and lyrics by both Sasser and Burwell.

The present-day musical blends Afro-Cuban music styles with Hip-Hop and R&B to tell the story of two Americans that travel to Cuba, and fall in love with two Cubans despite the political and cultural divide. Guided by the music and the spiritual forces of the island, they embark on a journey that confronts the stereotypes they have of each other and their countries.

Casting provided by Wojcik | Seay Casting. The reading will take place at New York Live Arts on September 10, 2012 at 7.30 p.m. For more information visit www.cubamorthemusical.com,
