The Independent Collective is launching its IndieGoGo film funding campaign with a star-studded evening on September 19th to be hosted by Tiny Dancer stars, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Katherine Crockett. The event, which is by invitation only and will be held at a private residence at Cobblestone Lofts in Tribeca, New York, is being sponsored by Dance Magazine, Sansha, MyPublisher, and Madea Vodka.

The Independent Collective, an organization committed to funding artistic projects by individuals who desire to see a project come to life, will be unveiling a featurrette from their first feature film - Tiny Dancer written by Jayce Bartok (The Cake Eaters) - at their fall fundraising event to commemorate the organizations one year milestone. The event will be attended by Broadway stars such as Kerry Butler, and Film Celebrities like Parker Posey and Tom McCarthy.

Tiny Dancer follows legendary dancer Lauren Drake (Katherine Crockett: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), who has just become a mother and is struggling to balance her drive for perfection on her journey to dance again. Also starring is Daphne Rubin-Vega (Jack Goes Boating, Rent) who will next be seen in the Broadway production of Streetcar Named Desire. The Independent Collective is proud to collaborate on Tiny Dancer with Desmond Richardson of Complexions Dance Co. Ms. Crockett is a principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company and this will be her first starring role in a feature film.

The Independent Collective is currently crowd funding for the film Tiny Dancer by scribe Jayce Bartok and produced by Tiffany Bartok. Tiny Dancer is a sponsored project of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization. Contributions on behalf of Tiny Dancer must be made payable to the New York Foundation for the Arts, and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Additionally, The Independent Collective has officially launched an IndieGoGo crowd funding campaign at TheIndependentCollective.com and the film's director is blogging about the process of funding Tiny Dancer at the Just Crowdfund the tiny_mce_markeramp;*# Movie! MovieMaker blog for the duration of the film's fundraising campaign.
