'Daens' to be Made into Musical

According to Variety the Belgian movie "Daens" will be made into a musical set to open October 4th.

"Daens" is set in the Flemish town of Aalst. The story concerns radical priest Adolf Daens and his battle to improve conditions in the textile industry.

The movie "Daens" was nominated for best foreign film Oscar in 1993. Original director Stijn Coninx is artistic adviser to the new stage production, and the composer is Dirk Brosse who wrote the original movie score.

The musical will be directed by Frank Van Laecke.

Lucas Van Den Eynde will play Daens and the love interest of Nette and Jan will be played by Free Souffriau and Jelle Cleymans, both veterans of Studio 100 stage and TV productions.
