DARRELL SMITH & THE SOUL BROTHERS SYNDICATE Will Become First Northern Soul Act to Headline His Majesty's Theatre

On Sunday 24 May 2026 (7:30pm), Darrell Smith and the Soul Brothers Syndicate will take to the stage at His Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, making history as the first Northern Soul act ever to headline one of Britain’s most iconic venues. The show marks the centrepiece of a nationwide headline tour that has already sold out regional dates across the UK, signalling a seismic moment for a genre that has been quietly building a new generation of devotees.

Smith’s path to the West End began with a performance that stopped the BBC Proms in its tracks. Handpicked as frontman for ‘Northern Soul at the BBC Proms’ - a landmark broadcast watched by millions - he commanded an audience of 5,000 to a standing ovation, live on national television. The response was immediate: agents, promoters, and press from across the industry took notice. The Soul Brothers Syndicate were formed, and a headline tour followed within months.

The show promises a spectacular collision of classic Northern Soul and modern orchestral presentation. Smith’s voice, defined by emotive warmth, soaring range and rare authenticity, anchors a full ensemble that reimagines the genre with new vitality. Audiences can expect iconic tracks including ‘The Drifter,’ ‘There’s a Ghost in My House,’ and ‘The Night,’ alongside original music written specifically for this tour.

Darrell Smith, Soul Brothers Syndicate lead vocalist, said: “Northern Soul has always been the best-kept secret in British music - the most passionate audiences, the most electrifying nights, and somehow still flying under the radar. Stepping onto the stage at His Majesty’s Theatre feels like the moment we finally get to say: this music belongs everywhere. We’re not changing Northern Soul. We’re just making sure the world hears it.”

Troy Harewood from Cream Collective Management said: “We’ve been watching Darrell Smith since the Proms broadcast, and what struck us immediately was not just the voice - it was the connection. He makes Northern Soul feel urgent and alive for audiences who have never set foot in a soul club. Bringing this to His Majesty’s Theatre is a genuine cultural moment.”

A limited live-stream option will be available for global audiences. The band’s debut single, ‘The Night’, is available at Apple Music.
