Cornelia Street Cafe Presents TWO LOUISIANA POETS: Darrell Bourque, Sheryl St. Germain 3/9
The Cornelia Street Cafe presents Two Louisiana Poets: Darrell Bourque and Sheryl St. Germain tonight, March 9th, at 6:00pm.
Darrell Bourque is the poet laureate of Louisiana. His five books of poems include most recently Call and Response: Conversations in Verse (with Jack B. Bedell) from Texas Review Press. A selected poems is due out later this spring. He served as both President of the National Association of Humanities Education and Editor in Chief of its journal Interdisciplinary Humanities and is professor emeritus in English at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Bourque lives with his wife Karen, a glass artist, in rural southwest Louisiana.
A native of New Orleans, Sheryl St. Germain has published six collections of poetry, most recently Let it Be a Dark Roux: New and Selected Poems, published by Autumn House Press in 2007. Her work has received several awards, including two NEA Fellowships, an NEH Fellowship, and the William Faulkner Award for the personal essay. A book of lyric essays, Swamp Songs: the Making of an Unruly Woman, was published in 2003 by The University of Utah Press. She directs the MFA program in Creative Writing at Chatham University.
