Comedian And Songwriter Tamar Broadbent Makes NY Debut With 'Best Life'

Fresh from a five-star, sell-out run at the UK's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, comedian and award-winning songwriter Tamar Broadbent is making her New York debut with Best Life, a hilarious musical comedy about ambition, anxiety and avocados.

Best Life, which runs 7-16 December at Soho Playhouse, uses an innovative mix of traditional stand-up, original songs, and some sage advice from Tamar's 95-year-old Grandmother Joan, to explore what success means in the modern world and asks if the goals we set are truly our own or are what we fear they should be.

Tamar's own life plan was simple: 1) Find dream job; 2) Change the world; 3) Go for brunch. Now she's broke, overwhelmed by options, in a complicated relationship with Netflix, and can occasionally be found drunkenly shouting 'Is it too much to ask for everything?!' at a bin.

In a world fuelled by Instagram, feminism and f-boys..., Tamar asks, 'how do you know if you are living your best life?'

Tipped for 'a great future' by Michael Palin, who described her as 'talented, bright and funny', Tamar Broadbent is a comedian, improviser, writer, singer, actor, playwright and award-winning songwriter. She has filmed for Comedy Central online and written for BBC Radio.

Tamar trained in UCB-style improv at the Free Association in London, and is currently performing at legendary American improv theatre Boom Chicago in Amsterdam, whose alumni includes Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele, Kay Cannon and more. Tamar also trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Best known for her funny, catchy comedy songs about millennial life, Tamar has toured her solo shows around the UK and internationally to Europe and Australia. She was nominated for Best Comedy Show at Perth Fringeworld 2017 and won the Stiles & Drewe Best New Song Award. She performs regularly on the UK stand-up circuit, at venues such as The Comedy Cafe, Glee Club and The Comedy Store.

She has co-written the play Split with Emma Pritchard, and the musical Club Mex with John-Victor, which premieres in the UK in 2019. She is currently developing a sitcom pilot.

In her free time, Tamar enjoys watching live music, making bolognese, and drinking as much wine as is stereotypically expected of an English person.
