CityRep will hold auditions for THE 39 STEPS, which will take the place of the previously announced NOISES OFF in CityRep's 2009-2010 season, on Saturday, February 6 at 3:30 pm. Readings will be from the script, and no preparation is necessary. We will meet in the lobby of the Freede Little Theatre in the Civic Center Music Hall, and then proceed to the Joel Levine RehearsAl Hall for the auditions. A description of the show and a breakdown of the roles available is below.

THE 39 STEPS
Adapted by Patrick Barlow
From the novel by John Buchan

From the Movie of Alfred Hitchcock licensed by ITV Global Entertainment Limited
And an original comcept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This 2-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiulously talented cast of 4), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance! In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale. A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!

The roles of Richard Hanney, Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret, and Man #2 have already been cast. We are auditioning for the roles of Man #1, and for understudies for all four roles.

Man #1, age range 30-40
