Cast Members from SPRING AWAKENING Broadway Revival Set for SPRING & SUMMER at 54 Below
On August 30th, several cast members from the upcoming Broadway revival of Spring Awakening will mingle with past cast members at 54 Below in "Spring & Summer." Katie Boeck (Voice of Wendla), Alex Boniello (Voice of Moritz), Daniel Durant (Moritz), Sandra Mae Frank (Wendla), Kathryn Gallagher (Voice of Martha), Sean Grandillo (Voice of Otto), Austin McKenzie (Melchior), Ali Stroker (Anna), and Alexandra Winter (Gretl) join the previously announced Broadway & tour performers Krystina Alabado, Christy Altomare, Julie Benko, Justin Scott Brown, Amanda Castaños, Anthony Lee Medina, Ben Moss, Zach Reiner-Harris, Claire Sparks, Taylor Trensch, and Gabe Violett.
The 7pm & 9:30pm concerts will celebrate the previous casts of Spring Awakening and welcome in the new cast members. Performers will be singing original music and some of their favorite pop and musical theatre covers. Audiences can also expect to see a sneak preview of the upcoming revival with a couple of songs from the show performed in English and ASL by the cast. There will also be a pair of tickets to the Spring Awakening revival raffled off at each show.
Press notes for the concert state: After three sold-out shows in June, cast members from the original Broadway and touring companies of Spring Awakening are once again reuniting on the stage of 54 Below. Come see them perform a variety of different musical styles and share some behind-the-scenes anecdotes from their time with the show. Audience members can expect to see a different show than was presented in June with all new song choices!
The evening will feature musical direction by Charity Wicks and is produced by Shoshana Feinstein.

Spring Awakening features music by Duncan Sheik and lyrics & by Steven Sater. It opened on Broadway in November 2006 at the Eugene O'Neill theatre and ran for over 2 years garnering 11 Tony nominations and 8 wins, including the trifecta of best musical, best score, and best book. The revival will begin performances on September 8th at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre after a hit extended run in California with Deaf West Theatre. The new production, directed by Michael Arden, features the show performed in spoken English and American Sign Language simultaneously.
