After 25 years, "Chicago" returns to the Oscarsteatern on September 10.

The musical takes place in the jazzy 1920s where Roxie Hart (Ellen Lindblad) ends up in prison for murder. There she meets vaudeville star Velma Kelly (Hanna Lindblad), convicted for the same reason. The two women fight for the attention of journalists, with the dream of liberation and a moment in the spotlight. All with the help of lawyer Billy Flynn (Peter Jöback). Amos Hart (Ola Forssmed) plays Roxie Hart's innocent and loyal husband. Denny Lekström plays the tough, street-smart police detective Fogarty who investigates the murder that Roxie Hart (Ellen Lindblad) is suspected of.

25 years ago it was a significant Oscar success with Jan Malmsjö and Petra Nielsen. The musical Chicago is now returning to the same theater. The action takes place during the Prohibition era in the USA. Chicago premiered on Broadway in 1975 and internationally, Liza Minelli, Jerry Springer and the aforementioned Petra Nielsen had the leading roles in London and New York. The musical has won six Tony Awards since 1975. After 51 years, it is now Broadway's longest-running production, following the closure of The Phantom of The Opera.

Dream role
Peter Jöback plays lawyer Billy Flynn and can add another big role to his musical CV. Jöback
has played in well-known musicals, both in London and on Broadway. Miss Saigon, The Witches of Eastwick,Les Miserables and Phantom of The Opera in London. The latter musical Jöback has also played on Broadway. His breakthrough came in 1995 in Björn & Benny's Kristina från Duvemåla, as Robert. The character Billy Flynn is a tuxedo-adorned lawyer, who owns the stage in demanding singing numbers.
