Broadway Stage Management Symposium Names 2026 Charlie Blackwell Scholarship Recipients

Th Symposium is an educational intensive, open to the public, and created for stage managers of all levels and experience to learn, grow, and connect.

BSMS has revealed the five stage managers receiving the 2026 Charlie Blackwell Symposium Scholarships. These five BIPOC stage managers join the educational and networking conference made by stage managers, for stage managers, and featuring Broadway's stage managers.

The adjudicators for these scholarships are all Broadway stage managers of color: Narda E. Alcorn, Kenneth J. McGee, Cody Renard Richard, Lisa Dawn Cave, Tony Honoree and Beverly Jenkins, Tony Honoree. Each recipient receives a complimentary pass to join the Broadway Stage Management Symposium and a one-on-one meeting with their adjudicator.

The recipients are:

Diana Belizaire, Graduating senior from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Devren Bryant, University of Mississippi alum, resident of Brooklyn, and NYC stage manager.

Kennedi Grant, earned both BA and MA degrees from the University of Alabama and is an experienced stage manager on multiple cruise lines.

Isaiah Maldonado, Graduating senior from Cal Poly Pomona, stage manager, theater-maker and leader in his community.

Vaishanavi Raul, earned Masters Degree from The New School and a Bachelors in Film, Television and New Media from Kishinchand Chellaram College in Mumbai.

This Broadway Stage Management Symposium is an educational intensive, open to the public, and created for stage managers of all levels and experience to learn, grow, and connect. The Charlie Blackwell Symposium Scholarships for BIPOC stage managers is named for Charlie Blackwell, a Black stage manager whose Broadway credits include Nine, Sunday in the Park with George and Jerome Robbins Broadway. He passed away in 1995 and these scholarships honor his legacy - opening doors and blazing a trail for future generations of BIPOC stage managers.
