Broadway Producer Garry McQuinn To Teach at Broadway Theatre Project

Broadway Theatre Project (BTP) welcomes Garry McQuinn, producer of the Broadway show Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, to the BTP faculty for the 2011 summer session.

About Garry McQuinn

Garry McQuinn is Managing Director of Back Row Productions, which has offices in Sydney and London. The company's acclaimed production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert opened on Broadway this spring and has also been performed in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and London. Back Row has presented a range of international touring productions including Tap Dogs, Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW, Mum's the Word, Gumboots, Shaolin Monks of China, Circus Oz, Fosse and Jerry Seinfeld's one-man show in Reykjavik and Stockholm. Prior to joining Back Row Productions, McQuinn ran his own company, Stage Business, a Production Company specializing in mounting large-scale musicals such as Beauty and the Beast, Showboat and The Boy from Oz. For nine years prior to this, he was Head of the Technical Production course at Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art, from which he had previously graduated. Following graduation McQuinn spent four years with the Melbourne Theatre Company's stage management team. He then worked on the West End and throughout the United Kingdom before returning to Australia and the next stage of his career as director, tour manager, production manager and company manager on a number of national commercial tours.

About Broadway Theatre Project

Founded in 1991, Broadway Theatre Project (BTP) is described by Playbill magazine as "the world's most prestigious musical theatre arts education program for high school and college students." Under the Artistic Direction of Debra McWaters, the not-for-profit BTP (a 501c3) is an intensive three-week training program focused on the key disciplines of musical theatre including acting, dancing and singing, as well as the critical life skills necessary to work in the professional world of entertainment. BTP graduates have performed in more than 70 different productions on Broadway.

Broadway Theatre Project alums are currently performing in the following shows on Broadway: The Addams Family, Anything Goes, Book of Mormon, Catch Me If You Can, Chicago, Hair, How to Succeed in Business, Master Class, Mary Poppins, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Wicked.
