Blackout's Hit Show WHITE PEOPLE Closes at iO's Cabaret Theatre Tonight, 12/12
Critically acclaimed improv troupe, BLACKOUT, takes its high-energy, long form improv show, BLACKOUTpresents: White People, to iO's Cabaret Theatre, 3541 N. Clark St. Performances begin Saturday, October 17 at midnight with weekly recurring performances through December 12.
The all African-American cast of BLACKOUT thought they knew a thing or two about Civil Rights...BUT THEY WERE WRONG. iO Chicago spits in the face of the unspoken racial barriers with this show. BLACKOUT gets integrated when a prominent improviser guest performs with the crew for what promises to be a night to be misunderstood by the close minded (did we just get real?).
Members of BLACKOUT include Sherman Edwards, Darwin Smith, Ramon Smith and Warren Phynix Johnson. The group's experience extends from Chicago's premiere improv venues such as iO Chicago, Annoyance Theatre, ComedySportz Chicago, Second City Chicago, among others. Formed to bring the voice of the African American people to the improv stage, BLACKOUT reclaims a largely unheard perspective in this genre of entertainment.
