Bay Street kicks off the New Year with a variety of events that will make you want to come in out of the cold! The Thursday Night Jam Session is back, The Picture Show continues on Friday and Saturday evenings and an assortment of Afterschool Performing Arts Classes for Kids begin the week of January 11th.

The 2010 fun begins on Thursday, January 7th as Bay Street and Bay Burger present THE JAM SESSION. Every Thursday through March from 7 - 9pm, music lovers can enjoy live jazz courtesy of local musicians. The content of The Jam Session series is determined by the musicians who perform. As a listener, this is an opportunity to experience amazing music at a wonderful venue, at an incredible price - free! Donations are welcome.


THE PICTURE SHOW, sponsored in part by Reilly Windows & Doors, kicks off 2010 with a bang. Friday and Saturday, January 8th and 9th is Elvis Presley WEEKEND. Friday evening will feature "Girl Happy" and Saturday "Girls, Girls, Girls". Both films start at 8pm with doors opening at 7:30pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased one-half hour before show time. The American Hotel will offer a $25 "Dinner and A Movie" prix fixe package, which includes a 3-course dinner, a ticket to the film and popcorn. Dinner reservations should be made by calling the hotel directly at 631-725-3535.
Having trouble finding ways to entertain the kids during the cold of winter? Bay Street has the answer as it begins the first 2010 session of KIDS AFTERSCHOOL CLASSES starting the week of January 11th. This 5-week session will run through February 12th and is being offered for children ages 8 to 12. Each class is from 4pm - 5:30pm in the afternoon and is $125 per child. · Mondays: C.A.S.T. (COOL ACTORS STAY TRUE) Kids will perform and write their own scenes - like magic! Instructor: Bradley True
· Wednesdays: THE PRODUCTION LAB: Create and perform using computers, music and multi-media production. Instructors: Steve Watson and Robbie McDonald
· Thursdays: JAM WITH JIM! Create a rock experience using harmonica, percussion and voice. Instructor: Jim Turner
· Fridays: MUSICAL THEATER CLASS: Come write and star in your very own mini-musical! Instructor: Debra Barsha

Bay Street is also launching a new PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM for children ages birth to 3 years. This one of a kind music party for mixed ages is also great for siblings! The program will run on Mondays and Fridays from 9:15am- 10am from January 11th through February 12th. Cost is $200 per child for the 10-class session. For anyone looking for a great place to send the kids during winter break...look no further! Back by popular demand, Bay Street's KIDS SCHOOL VACATION CAMP will return during the February break from February 15 - 19 and again for the spring break in March. The camps will be led by Broadway's own Debra Barsha. Space is limited and fills up quickly. Call 631-725-0818 x110 to reserve a spot today.

LOOKING AHEAD: Don't miss the free community screening of "In My Hands": A Story of Marfan Syndrome, directed by Brenda Siemer Scheider and Emma Morris. The screening is Saturday, January 16th at 8pm. Donations to the National Marfan Foundation are welcome.

Ever wanted to experience a musical in progress? Come enjoy a live performance of "Murder for Two", a musical theater workshop, on Saturday, January 23rd at 8pm. Sponsored in part by the Lucille Lortel Foundation, the workshops allow artists to develop new work and provide a home for participating artists to explore and expand their creative impulses and inspirations. Tickets are $15 and are available a half-hour before showtime.

On Saturday, February 13th don't miss a special ONE NIGHT ONLY Movie & Dance Night at Bay Street. After a screening of "The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert" at 8pm, Bay Street revelers will stay in the theatre for a Dance featuring a DJ. A cash bar will also be available. Tickets for this special evening are $20 and will be sold starting at 7:30pm.
