SAG Foundation, R.Evolución Latina Welcome Young Stars to Literacy Day

10-year-old actress Fatima Ptàcek (Saturday Night Live, Sesame Street, The Royal Pains and the upcoming The Rebound starring Catherine Zeta-Jones), celebrity storyteller AdrIan Martinez (Law and Order, Flight of the Conchords, Morning Glory), R.Evolución Latina's founders Luis Salgado (In the Heights-Broadway, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown-Broadway) and Gabriela Garcia (Chicago-Broadway), volunteer readers from the SAG Foundation BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools) program and R.Evolución Latina teaching artists.

WHAT:
Are contributing time and talent to children's literacy efforts by reading aloud to children grades K-5 at Dare to Go Beyond: Read and You WILL Achieve!, a literacy day sponsored by the SAG Foundation and R.Evolución Latina and with special assistance from the Screen Actors Guild's Spanish Language Media Task Force.

12:45 p.m. - 1:35 p.m. Assembly for Grades 3-5, featuring interactive performance by R. Evolución Latina and read-aloud by celebrity storyteller AdrIan Martinez

WHY:
Part of the non-profit SAG Foundation's Children's Literacy Initiative, BookPALS encourages children toward their fullest potential as literate, productive and creative thinkers with over 2,000 dedicated volunteers reading aloud to more than 100,000 preschool to 5th grade students weekly at public schools, hospitals and cultural institutions. R.Evolución Latina's collective of artists and activists is committed to empowering the artistic community in order to inspire growth within the Latino Community through collaboration, productions and educational support programs. This Literacy Day event highlights the two organizations' collaboration in a celebration of artistic involvement, community awareness and educational value.

About the Spanish Language Media Task Force
SAG NATIONAL SPANISH LANGUAGE MEDIA TASK FORCE is a group of professional actors, SAG members, who dedicate their efforts to the Spanish-speaking acting community in the United States and Puerto Rico.
