Marrow's Edge will present the World Premiere of Beatrice, a new play written by Elijah Guo and directed by Ria T. DiLullo. Beatrice centers on Dante's love interest and principal muse -- but gives its main character the attention she deserves.

Beatrice runs this weekend, April 11th and 12th at the Sonnet Theater of the Producers' Club, 358 W 44th St., New York, NY. Performances are Saturday 4/11 at 7:00pm and Sunday 4/12 at 12:00pm, 3:00pm and 7:00pm. Tickets: $12-18, audience size limited to 50. Buying in advance is highly recommended. About the Play:

Beatrice Portinari is just another badass girl who plays the flute. Except for the fact that she lives in Medieval 13th Century Italy. And music really sucks because there's no polyphony. And society has forced her to marry. And she's being followed by this really annoying guy who keeps writing poems about her. Loosely based on the figure at the center of Dante's Vita Nuova and Divine Comedy, BEATRICE is a story of Heaven and Hell, life and death, love and loss, a woman ahead of her time, and the number three.
