Wildhorn's BONNIE AND CLYDE Announces Casting Hunt for Leads

Asolo Repertory Theatre is seeking actors, both Equity and non-Equity, for the 2010--11 season of plays, including roles in the new Broadway bound musical Bonnie & Clyde. Asolo Rep's diverse 2010--11 season performs in rotating repertory from November through June. More information is posted on the website at www.asolo.org.

Asolo Rep welcomes all actors who wish to audition. Please note that those not cast in the 2010-11 season may be considered for roles in future seasons. Asolo Rep is also seeking Non-Equity mature men and women, young men, and children aged 8-12 to fill understudy roles throughout the 2010-2011 season.

Monday April 26, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Call backs)

(Audition room location to be confirmed when appointments are made)

Audition appointments are for three (3) minutes each.
Bring two copies non-returnable headshot with resume glued or stapled to the back.
For dramatic auditions: prepare two contrasting monologues maximum three minutes long
For musical auditions: prepare either a brief song (musical theatre/pop/rock/ gospel) OR 16 bars of a song(musical theatre/pop/rock/ gospel) and a one-minute contemporary monologue.
An accompanist will be provided on Sunday only; if singing, please bring your own sheet music.

No dance auditions will be held at this time. Dance-specific callbacks will be held at a later date if needed.

[BONNIE PARKER] Female, Caucasian, early 20s. Once a straight A student with a gift for music and poetry; she falls in love with the wrong guy in a desperate need to escape the misery of Cement, Texas. Excellent singer and a versatile high belter with a naturalistic pop country sound. PRINCIPAL

[CLYDE BARROW] Male, Caucasian, early 20s. The wrong guy. Excellent singer with a high bari-tenor voice and naturalistic pop country sound. PRINCIPAL

[SHERIFF SCHMIDT] Male, Caucasian, 50s-60s. Hard ass Texas good ‘ol boy; he is the long arm of the law and hell bent on capturing or killing Bonnie and Clyde. Excellent rock and roll singer with high notes. PRINCIPAL
[TED HINTON] Male, Caucasian, mid-late 20s. Nice looking, but even in his deputy uniform he doesn't command much of a presence. Tenor, excellent singer, naturalistic pop country sound. PRINCIPAL

[BLANCHE] Female, Caucasian, mid 20s. Conservative, God fearing Christian. Steadfast in her convictions and her love for her husband, Buck. Owns and runs the Cinderella Beauty Salon. Excellent singer with a high belt and naturalistic pop country sound. PRINCIPAL
[BUCK] Male, Caucasian, mid 20s. Although older and bigger than his brother Clyde, not nearly as powerful. Torn between living a poor law-abiding life with Blanche and the rich outlaw life with Clyde. Character voice - baritone, naturalistic pop country sound. PRINCIPAL

[EMMA] Female, Caucasian, early 40s. Bonnie's widowed mother, loving and attentive. She's worked hard to create a good life for Bonnie; still clings to the memory of her late husband. Warm strong character voice- excellent singer. PRINCIPAL

[YOUNG BONNIE] Female, Caucasian, 10 years old. Smart, confident with dreams that take her beyond Cement Texas. Excellent singer.
[YOUNG CLYDE] Male, Caucasian, 10 years old. With Jesse James as his hero, he's already an outlaw in the making. Excellent singer- prefer unchanged voice.

[ENSEMBLE SINGERS/DANCERS] Males and Females, Caucasian, to play 20s - 60s. All must look like they stepped out of a Walker Evans photograph. Must be strong actors and singers who can play a variety of dust bowl characters. Naturalistic pop/country sound a must.

[FRENCH COURTIER] Male. Early 20's - Late 40's. Tall, with athletic and graceful bearing. Must be able to move well (though dance skills are not required). Regal manner, attitude, and looks. Has strong physical presence and expressive gestures. Seeking 4.

Most Equity roles for the 2010-2011 repertory season have been cast from Asolo Rep's resident company. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.
