Alfred Molina, Richard Kind, Mamie Gummer and Glenne Headly Set for L.A. Theatre Works' AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, 4/10-13

By:

A new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's "An Enemy of the People" with Alfred Molina, Richard Kind, Mamie Gummer, Glenne Headly, Alan Mandell and Josh Stamberg, will be presented by L.A. Theatre Works. Five performances will be recorded for public radio in front of a live audience, April 10-13, 2014.

An Enemy of the People - Ibsen's incendiary drama stars Tony Award nominees Alfred Molina (Chocolat) and Richard Kind (Argo) as brothers facing off for the hearts and minds of their community. When townsfolk discover that the waters of a local tourist spa are contaminated, they're forced to choose between public safety and financial solvency.

This new, critically acclaimed adaptation by Rebecca Lenkiewiczss illuminates the argument of environment vs. economy that still resonates a century after the play's debut.

Also featuring Mamie Gummer (Emily Owens, M.D.), Glenne Headly (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Mr. Holland's Opus), Alan Mandell (A Serious Man, Waiting for Godot at the Taper) and Josh Stamberg (Parenthood).

All performances will be recorded live in front of an audience (without sets or costumes) to air on L.A. Theatre Works' syndicated radio theater series, which broadcasts weekly on public radio stations nationwide (locally, in Southern California, on KPFK 90.7 FM) and can be streamed on demand at www.latw.org.

An Enemy of the People is part of L.A. Theatre Works' Relativity Series featuring science-themed plays, with major funding provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, to enhance public understanding of science and technology in the modern world.
