Albany Theatre to Host Exclusive Launch Event for Illustrated THE TALES OF BEEDLE THE BARD

The Albany is hosting an exclusive opportunity to celebrate the publication of the illustrated edition of JK Rowling's The Tales of Beedle the Bard with bestselling author, artist and former Children's Laureate, Chris Riddell.

Just one of five events arranged nationally, Chris will be talking about his inspiration behind the art for the book and what is was like to illustrate J.K. Rowling's words.

The list of Chris Riddell's professions is a catalogue of talent - writer, illustrator, cartoonist, and chronicler of the modern world and Waterstones' Children's Laureate 2015-2017, he is as well known for his own fiction for children, including the Ottoline and Goth Girl series as he is for his many successful collaborative works. He is also a tireless champion of reading and illustration in the modern age.

Chris developed his career as an illustrator alongside working as a resident political cartoonist for The Economist and The Observer providing proof that a picture paints a thousand words: his work ranks alongside figures such as Quentin Blake, Roald Dahl and Michael Rosen as one of the most popular figures in Children's literature.

In this new partnership, Chris brings his artistic flair to J.K. Rowling's inventive fairy tale collection, The Tales of Beedle the Bard to launch this fully illustrated new colour edition from Bloomsbury - an essential addition to the library for all fans of Harry Potter, magical fairy tales and illustration.

The event will include a reading of The Wizard and the Hopping Pot from the book while Chris Riddell creates some illustrations live on stage. The reader will be a local actor.

This event is set to be a must-see for fans of the Harry Potter series, book illustrators and Chris Riddell himself who will be available to sign copies of the book after the event.
