ATA to Present the Return of POET ON A STRING at Sargent Theatre
Richard Vetere's drama features Dustin Pazar, Amber Brookes, and Jake Minter under Brookes' direction.
The American Theatre of Actors will present the return and extension of Richard Vetere's searing historical drama, Poet On A String. The production will return to the Sargent Theatre from May 27 through June 7, 2026.
Presented as a featured production of the WIT! (Women in Theatre) Program at ATA, the play transports audiences to a sweltering weekend in Frenchtown, New Jersey, in the summer of 1939. As the shadow of World War II looms over the horizon, three literary titans collide in a battle for the soul of American art.
Inspired by true events, Poet On A String follows the volatile interactions between legendary poet Delmore Schwartz, his wife-the writer Gertrude Buckman-and the iconic film critic and screenwriter James Agee.
The cast features Dustin Pazar as James Agee, Amber Brookes as Gertrude Buckman, and Jake Minter as Delmore Schwartz
The creative team includes Jonathan Beebe (Assistant Director), Paul Maurizino (Stage Manager), Josh Bartosch (Production Assistant), and Jake Minter (Lighting Design).
