According to an Equity notice, new musical WALLENBERG will receive a developmental lab this fall in New York City, directed by Tony-winning ANNIE lyricist Martin Charnin.

With Book & Lyrics by Laurence Holzman and Felicia Needleman, WALLENBERG features music by Benjamin Rosenbluth. Darren Cohen is musical director for the lab, with Richard Frankel and Joe Watson executive producing. Rehearsals begin September 6 for the September 29 & 30 presentations.

The synopsis reads: "WALLENBERG is based on the true story of Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish aristocrat who was determined at all costs to protect and save the lives of many Jewish people in Budapest during World War II. WALLENBERG is a sweeping romantic drama."

Currently, the workshop is looking to fill roles such as "Swedish diplomats, a big band style crooning tenor, various Swedish and Hungarians whose lives were in danger by being captured by the Nazis, and Nazis."

WALLENBERG received earlier readings in November 2013, featuring Matt Bogart, Sierra Boggess and Dick Latessa, directed by Karen Carpenter.
