A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD to be Presented at Playhouse On Park
The Tony-nominated musical, directed by Kevin Cronin, is based on Arnold Lobel's beloved children's books.
Playhouse on Park will continue its Theatre for Young Audiences series with the charming musical A Year with Frog and Toad. Based on the beloved children's books by Arnold Lobel, with book and lyrics by Willie Reale and music by Robert Reale, this three-time Tony Award–nominated musical is directed by Kevin Cronin.
Audiences will watch as best friends Frog and Toad hop from page to stage, journeying through the seasons in a series of whimsical and heartfelt adventures. From planting gardens in spring to sledding in winter, their year is filled with laughter, discovery, and enduring lessons about friendship. Blending vaudeville-style humor with imaginative storytelling, the musical celebrates what makes each individual unique while highlighting the joy of companionship. Both nostalgic and fresh, A Year with Frog and Toad offers a heartfelt theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.
Public performances take place on Saturdays, May 23, May 30, and June 6 at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM and Wednesday, June 3 at 3:00 PM. A sensory-friendly performance will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 10:00 AM. In addition to public performances, more than 5,000 students are already scheduled to attend Literature Alive field trip performances during the school day.
Recommended for children in Pre-K through Grade 5, the production offers engaging storytelling and universal themes that resonate well beyond its target age group. Tickets are priced at $25, with a $3.50 service fee, and seniors and students receive a $2.50 discount.
