Comedian, storyteller and hoop-dancer Mimi Fischer (The Chris Gethard Show, Broad City) is 64 years young and all about comedy, improv and hoop dance. She announces her first solo show, A Late Bloomer, with SoloCom, the Peoples Improv Theater's annual solo show festival. The show's title is a nod to her starting her career in comedy at an age that most think should relegate her to knitting... but she doesn't do that.

Mimi's show will focus on how her unique journey into hoop-dancing and comedy created her new life. In her solo show, she discusses the difference between age and maturity, the challenges of being in a peer group with mostly all 20-something-year-olds when you're defined as "elderly" by the dictionary but definitely don't feel that way, and the positive side of aging (is there one? Find out!).

Friday, November 17th at 6pm. The People's Improv Theater Mainstage (Striker) - 123 E 24th St NYC, 10010. TICKETS: Only $10 with no drink minimum - tickets can be purchased online here or at the door

At 64 years old - and proud of it - comedian, storyteller and hoop-dancer Mimi Fischer got her start in comedy at a later age which sets her apart from the rest of the crowd (in addition her unique combination of improv comedy and hoopdance). Upon taking her first improv class in 2011, Mimi has been absorbed with all things comedy, addicted to improv, and has been steadily growing her career as an entertainer and professional weirdo. Mimi has been seen on The Chris Gethard Show, Broad City, The Special without Brett Davis, and has performed all over NYC at comedy venues such as UCB Chelsea, UCB East, the PIT, Reckless, Ars Nova, Rough Trade, and The Tank. She has performed in various esteemed comedy festivals including DCM and the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. Additionally, Mimi produces, hosts, and performs in her own weekly improv show, Dessert Cart, which has been running for the past five years.
