Award winning magician, Robert Malissa, puts the art of the trick on trial. He will lie, cheat, and smile as he presents sleight of hand, mentalism, and sneaky swindles, all while making a case of the craft of deception. A fair and balanced examination of the art, for lovers of magic and their ambivalent friends.

Native Philadelphian, Robert Malissa, was setting up for his street show a few years back when a passerby said, "Hey a magician, the lowest form of entertainment!" That statement was the inspiration for his show, "A Case for Magic", at the upcoming NYC Frigid Fringe Festival.

The show takes direct aim at the view of magic as a tacky art, or that tricks are only for kids. Sometimes comic, sometimes poetic, Malissa's original presentations of sleight of hand, mentalism, and general sneaky stuff, support his point of view. It has been said, "There are many rooms in the house of magic." Acting as your congenial tour guide, Malissa shows you his favorite places.

Rob Malissa started magic at age 12 and has performed for many years. His early start was the birthday circuit, then street magic in Philadelphia, and Europe after college. Along the way, he garnered a first place award from the Philadelphia Houdini Club and two more awards from the Philadelphia Society of American Magicians.

After a successful run at the 2017 Philadelphia Fringe Festival, it is now time to bring his show to NYC. Malissa will be performing six shows at the NYC 2018 Frigid Fringe Festival.
