The Broken Watch Theatre Company will present A Broken Christmas Carol, written by James Christy, J. Holtham and Kendra Levin and directed by Drew DeCorleto, at The Michael Weller Theatre (311 W 43rd street) from December 15th through December 30th, 2005; previews begin December 8th.

"It's a 'Broken' take on a Christmas classic as three playwrights conspire to irreverently update Dickens' masterpiece for the 21st Century.  Scrooge gets shoved out of the spotlight when two Jewish kids search for the true meaning of Christmas, a lapsed homeboy is spooked into keeping it real, and Bob Cratchit pimps his family out to reality T.V.  Filled with laughs, gasps, and (we swear) real Christmas Spirit, A Broken Christmas Carol will haunt you like 'an undigested bit of beef.'   This ain't your daddy's Christmas Carol," state press notes.

A Broken Christmas Carol was developed through Broken Watch's "1X4" program, where a group of playwrights individually write two scenes of what will ultimately be a full length play. Towards the end of the process, the scenes are strung together into one cohesive play. For the production, the playwrights were given the task to write about the lesser characters of the classic Christmas story.

The cast includes J. Clint Allen, Janine Barris, Keith Arthur Bolden, Chaz Brewer, Ellen Daschbach, Danielle Davenport, Guil Fisher, William Harper, Leo Lauer, and Aly Wirth. Set design is by Josh Robinson.

The show's regular performance schedule is: Monday, Wednesday-Friday at 8pm; Saturday at 3pm and 8pm; Sundays at 7pm.  There are no performances from December 23-26.  From Tuesday, December 27 through Thursday, December 29, the show will play at 8pm; there is a special performance on Friday, December 30 at 6pm and 9pm.

The Michael Weller Theatre is located at 311 West 43rd Street, 6th Floor.  Tickets are $19; for reservations visit www.Theatermania.com or call 212.352.3101.  For more information, visit www.BrokenWatch.org.
