Book, Music, and Lyrics by Brett Boles

FOREVERMAN started as a fascination with the concept of immortality. What would be the real ramifications of eternal life? How would it affect relationships, or romance? How could it affect a friendship? These were all questions floating around my head four years ago when I began the initial outline of the show. One year later, I had a finished draft. It was a BIG show. Minimum of eighteen people in the cast, large ensemble, huge sound. We had a table read in 2009 with Josh Young, Alan H. Green, Janine DiVita, and Karen Elliot (among many others!) and we compiled a demo recording in May of 2010. Then…the show sat. And sat. I submitted it to NYMF in 2010 and it was rejected. So I spent the better part of the next year tweaking it, deleting, adding new songs, changing up the story a bit here and there.

Last year, I felt it was ready for another submission to NYMF. And a freak October Snowstorm hit and knocked out our power for a week right when submissions were coming due. By some miracle, the deadline was extended, and I finished the submission on the VERY LAST NIGHT. And here we are! Now the show is a smaller seven-person piece, but I haven’t sacrificed any of the big musical moments. It may be a smaller cast, but there is nothing small about this show. The ideas are big. Enormous.

It has been tremendous to see and hear our audiences embracing the piece, and we all hope that this is only the beginning for our little big show. Thank you NYMF for this incredible opportunity!
