Peninsula Players Theatre, Door County's theatrical treasure and America's oldest professional resident summer theater, is thrilled to announce new curtain times for its 2017 fall season with 7 p.m. evening performances and 3 p.m. matinees on select Sunday performances for the charming offbeat comedy, "Almost, Maine" by John Cariani. Performances of "Almost, Maine" are Tuesdays through Sundays at 7 p.m. through Oct. 15except for the Sunday matinees on Sept. 17, Oct. 1 and 15 at 3 p.m.

"Patrons like to arrive early for the performances at Peninsula Players to enjoy the charming view from our shoreline location while partaking in the amenities of our Luna Bar and Canteen," said BrIan Kelsey the Peninsula Players managing director. "Adjusting the curtain times on select Sundays for 'Almost, Maine' allows patrons to continue to savor the Players experience they've come to relish in the summer - exploring the gardens and grounds of the outdoor lobby before settling in for a memorable performance by our renowned artistic company."

On a moonless night, the not-so-tough women and men of a remote, mythical town find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious way. While the northern lights dance overhead they crack some beer and try to make sense of love. "Almost, Maine" is a series of nine loosely intertwined vignettes about love and loss featuring 19 characters played by four actors.

Bubbly waitresses, lonesome repairmen, mill workers, lost visitors, nurses-in-training and other hard-working residents don their winter gear, pitch tents, start their snowmobiles and gather under the northern lights to get past the 'almost' and capture real love.

"The Sunday 3 p.m. performance time was new for the Players last fall," Kelsey said. "In past seasons we have scheduled Sunday 4 p.m. matinees around the Green Bay Packer schedule. By moving the matinee time to 3 p.m. on selectSundays it provides additional daylight travel time to and from the theater for travelers. 'Almost, Maine' is a delightful show Players audiences will not want to miss. These adjustments to the fall curtain times provide an opportunity for all in the region to enjoy this charming, perhaps even quirky, romantic comedy."
