THE CAKE by Bekah Brunstetter is a highly acclaimed new comedy drama by the writer/producer of Emmy-nominated outstanding drama series THIS IS US and was previously produced at Manhattan Theatre Club, The Geffen, La Jolla Playhouse, and the Alley Theatre in Houston. Directed by Janet DavidsonTHE CAKE is set in North Carolina, present day. Della makes cakes, not judgment calls - those she leaves to her husband, Tim. But when the girl she helped raise comes back home to North Carolina to get married, and the fianc is actually a fiance, Della's life gets turned upside down. She can't really make a cake for such a wedding, can she? The Cake is based on an actual Supreme Court case that was decided in favor of the baker and against the gay couple.
