AFTER THE FALL opens the Aux Dog Theatre Nob Hill’s Tenth Anniversary season and runs from September 8th to October 1st at 3011 Monte Vista Blvd NE. Many believe AFTER THE FALL to be Arthur Miller’s most personal—and controversial—play. It is a searing drama about memory, Miller, Marilyn and America in the 1950s and is played out against the rising Cold War with Russia and its political ramifications.

Directed by James Cady, AFTER THE FALL stars Peter Shea Kierst (Iago in “Othello” at Aux Dog) as ‘Quentin’ and Sheridan K. Johnson (Vanda in “Venus in Furs” at Aux Dog) as ‘Maggie.’ Although Miller denied that the character of Maggie was Monroe, the play is considered to be Miller’s self critique following his divorce from the world famous movie star and her tragic death. It was ahead of its time because much of the action takes place in the mind of the lead character. This is the story of a man who desperately wants to move past his memories in order to accept the love of a new woman in his life. Yet he is compelled to relive his childhood losses, failed marriages and the controversial politics of the 1950s Blacklist which turned allies against each other. And so he does battle with his demons, the most prominent being the shadow of his second wife, Marilyn Monroe.

Miller is considered one of the great American playwrights, along with Tennessee Williams and Eugene O’Neill. Among his best known works are the Tony Award winning “The Crucible” which is his most frequently produced work, “A View From The Bridge” which won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Revival, and, of course, “Death of a Salesman,” a landmark of 20th-century drama which won the triple crown of theatrical artistry: the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award, the Tony, and the Pulitzer Prize.

Tickets can be purchased at www.auxdogtheatre.org or by phone at (505) 254-7716. "Endlessly fascinating, emotionally harrowing, and consumingly committed to telling the truth as Miller sees it." --- Time Magazine
