The Vogues to Play Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts, 8/31

By:

During a glorious run in the 1960s, The Vogues, a group of high school buddies from Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, made their mark with a lush, harmonized sound a bit mellower than most rock and a lot richer than pop. The effect was a string of hits that repeatedly pushed deep into the top forty -- four times making the top ten -- and eventually landed them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Their songs beautifully updated vocal standards from the late 1950s, often improving upon classics like "My Special Angel", "Green Fields," "Till" and that cruising favorite "Earth Angel." They won lasting fame with their smash hits "Turn Around, Look At Me," "You're the One," Magic Town" and "Five O'Clock World." Additional favorites include their "Woman Helping Man," "Moments to Remember," "Please Mr. Sun," "The Land of Milk and Honey" and the much-loved "No, Not Much!"

Now featuring the group's original lead vocalist Bill Burkette with Troy Elich, Royce Taylor and the Five O'Clock Band (drums, percussion, keyboards, guitar and bass), The Vogues' intricate harmonies and lyrical beauty continue to shine brightly in spotlights across the land. They come to share their greatest hits and other rock & roll oldies at the Spencer Theater on Saturday, August 31 at 8 p.m. Tickets are just $59 & $56 and are available at the Spencer Box Office. Call 575.336.4800 or go online to www.spencertheater.com for concert information. Also, check out the pre-performance southern fried catfish buffet ($20) in the lobby at 6 p.m.

The Vogues' repertoire of songs is an absolute joy to listen to - that is if you dig great harmonies, emotional lyrics and intricate arrangements of songs! See you down memory lane.
