The Adobe Theater, organized in in 1957, kicks off its 60th season with Noel Coward's most famous comedy, Blithe Spirit.

Charles Condomine needs to learn about the occult for a novel he is writing. As part of his research, he asks an eccentric medium, Madame Arcati, to hold a séance at his house. During the seance, Madame Arcati unknowingly summons the very active spirit of Charles's first wife, Elvira. Only Charles can see or hear Elvira and often seems to be talking to thin air. His second wife, Ruth, does not believe that Elvira exists and starts to wonder about her husband's sanity. Elvira, still in love with Charles, makes several unsuccessful efforts to break up his marriage to Ruth. Elvira's final ploy backfires in a particularly spectacular manner that ends up complicating everyone's lives - temporal and spiritual!

Blithe Spirit premiered in London's West End in 1941 and ran for 1,997 performances - a British theater record surpassed only by Dame Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap. A perennial audience favorite, Blithe Spirit played Broadway for 647 performances, and has been successfully adapted for film, television, musical theater (High Spirits), and radio. The show has been performed on countless professional and amateur stages since its debut.

Kathleen Welker directs The Adobe Theater's presentation of Blithe Spirit which features Stephen Zamora as Charles, Carolyn Hogan as Ruth, Jen Stephenson as Madame Arcati and Lorri Oliver - returning to the Albuquerque stage - as Elvira. Clifton Chadwick portrays Doctor Bradman, and Sari Jensen is Mrs Bradman. Linda Holston rounds out the cast as Edith, the family maid.
