Adelaide Introduces Mobile Performance Space ArtBox

A unique South Australian solution to performance and special event spaces will premiere this month as part of Open State - the 10 day summit of collaboration, innovation, ideas and enterprise, taking place in Adelaide.

ArtBox is a venue that goes where you need it. A premium mobile space, suitable for theatre, music, and special events, ArtBox unpacks and sets up rapidly, to provide a fully functional solution for city and regional locations alike.

Touted as "the venue that can go anywhere", ArtBox is the brain child of a dynamic group of South Australian arts and events entrepreneurs, infrastructure specialists and leading architects.

ArtSembly co-chair and event guru Peta-Anne Louth was frustrated by SA businesses and Arts makers being forced to go outside the state to secure mobile venues for their events, and wanted to find a way to support theses industries from within the local community. It was also "an ideal way to engage wider audiences in the Arts through a new dynamic space."

The box features an innovative, modular design that can be adapted easily, using South Australian design and unique construction technologies. It features flexible seating for up to 250 and staging options that can include bar facilities, and is covered in a "skin" that can be printed to reflect a brand or environment.

Festivals Adelaide CEO Christie Anthony says of ArtBox "Venues are always in high demand. A new transportable, fully equipped flexible performance space is terrific news for the festival sector."

ArtBox will become the Open State Hub for the ten-days of the event. Located on the lawns in front of the South Australian Museum, the Hub will be a central point of interest for the general public and participants of events during the ten days of Open State.

ArtBox is a collaboration between not-for-profit ArtSembly Inc, infrastructure consultants Specialised Event Solutions and architects Walter Brooke. It is available to hire for corporate and arts events.
