Frauleins and Friedrichs, Louisas and Liesels, Baronesses and Brigittas, Adelaide will again be alive with the sound of music... with songs we have heard for fifty years as 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the most successful movie musical of all time, The Sound of Music.

Bringing the Austrian Alps of Salzburg to the aisles of the Festival Theatre, Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music is back for one show only on Friday 17 July at 7.30pm. Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music is an unforgettable musical experience where the audience are the star performers. See the original film in all its glory up on the big screen, with song sub-titles so you do not miss a beat.

But, let's start at the very beginning... For the uninitiated Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music is just that... the chance to get together with a group of friends, dress up and sing along with hundreds of others to the classic movie The Sound of Music and hiss the baroness, boo the Nazis, and cheer Maria and the Von Trapp kids!

And fear not - if you forget the words, they're printed on the screen so it's easy to sing your heart out to all your favourites such as Do-Re-Mi, How do you solve a problem like Maria?, Sixteen going on Seventeen, My Favourite Things, Edelweiss and join in earnest choruses of Climb every Mountain!

The host for the evening will lead the audience through a vocal warm up, give a comprehensive guide to the accompanying actions and the complimentary fun pack (wave the edelweiss and curtain fabric, solve a problem with the prompt cards, be invited to ball and pull the party popper).

Judging the costume competition has been known to send audiences into a frenzy and is an exciting highlight which brings the die-hard SOM fans front row and centre.

Given free reign to be extra quirky and creative, the event has seen an impressive array of spectacular costumes, from deer (female deer of course) to girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, from curtain-clad Von Trapps to brown paper packages tied up with string! Not to mention - Flibbertigibbets, Tombstones, 'Larks who are learning to pray', Homer Simpson (DOH!) and more!

Fifty years on since Julie Andrews first sang her way into our hearts as Fraulein Maria, fifty years since we first fell in love with the glorious scenery and soaring peaks of Salzburg, (not to mention Captain Von Trapp!) and still The Sound of Music remains the world's favourite movie musical of all time.

Whether you are a family of stage-destined musical belters or a secret shower singer, Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music is a bucket-list experience you cannot miss!
