THE HARD PROBLEM will mark Stoppard's first return to the National in over a decade. His last work staged there was 2002's The Coast of Utopia.

Commenting on the play's title, Stoppard previously told the Mail: "It's a bit premature to say much about it, to be honest, but it's not about erectile dysfunction, anyway."

This will be Stoppard's first new play since Rock 'n' Roll in 2006. His play The Real Thing will see a revival on Broadway this fall, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ewan McGregor, Cynthia Nixon and Josh Hamilton.
