Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) has appointed Colin Marr in the role of Theatre Director at the Edinburgh Playhouse.

Colin will be joining the team in Edinburgh in October from his current role as Chief Executive at Eden Court. He has been in this role since 1997 and during this time has led a £23 million capital development which transformed Eden Court into the largest multi-venue arts centre in Scotland, with two theatres, two cinemas, two studios and conference and meeting spaces. He oversaw the founding of Eden Court CREATIVE which is now the largest theatre based provider of Creative Learning in the UK.

He is currently chair of Visit InvernessLochNess - the UKs first tourism Business Improvement District and is a board member of Scottish Film. Colin previously worked at Edinburgh's Traverse Theatre and was a member of the Scottish Government's Cultural Commission.

Commenting on his new role, Colin said, "I'm very excited to be returning to the Capital and look forward to working with the team in this iconic Edinburgh Theatre, which plays host to world-leading touring productions, as well as being a key venue for Festival and Fringe seasons."

ATG's Business Director (UK Venues) Julia Potts said, "'I am delighted that Colin will be joining the Edinburgh Playhouse, and the wider ATG family, later this year. He brings with him a wonderful track record of success in Inverness, and a wealth of industry experience. I am looking forward to seeing the Playhouse flourish under his vision and leadership.'
