Carly Bawden will go virtual as 'Alice' in Damon Albarn (music) and Moira Buffini's (book & lyrics) WONDER.LAND, helmed by Rufus Norris at the National Theatre this autumn.

The Daily Mail writes that Rosalie Craig, who played the part in Manchester, is unable to reprise the role, as she will be starring as 'Rosalind' in the National's AS YOU LIKE IT this fall. Bawden recently appeared in MCQUEEN in the West End, ASSASSINS at Menier Chocolate Factory and MY FAIR LADY at Sheffield.

Also in the WONDER.LAND cast are Lois Chimimba, Anna Francolini, Golda Rosheuvel and Paul Hilton.

The production features sets by Rae Smith, projections by 59 Productions, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Paul Arditti, and choreography by Javier De Frutos, with music supervisor David Shrubsole, music director Tom Deering, and associate director James Bonas.

The official description of WONDER.LAND reads: "A new musical inspired by Lewis Carroll's iconic story, WONDER.LAND is a coming-of-age adventure that explores the blurred boundaries between our online and offline lives. Aly is struggling with all the pressures of being a teenager: family, school, friends and her own insecurities. Then she discovers wonder.land -- a mysterious online world where, perhaps, she can create a whole new life. The web becomes her looking-glass -- but will Aly see who she really is? Combining live theatre and digital technology in dazzling new ways, wonder.land is brought to life on stage by an extraordinary creative team. With stunning sets, costumes, video projection and lighting, and a score by Blur's Damon Albarn, this is a musical like no other: an Alice for the online generation."

WONDER.LAND begins performances November 23, 2015. Click here for more information.
