They are joined by Mark Benton, last seen at the Lyric in Trevor Griffiths' modern classic Comedians.

Well-known for their unique take on classic texts, previous collaborations between Sean Holmes and Filter include Three Sisters (Lyric Hammersmith), Twelfth Night (Tricycle Theatre) and Caucasian Chalk Circle (National Theatre), these former collaborators will be joined by the visionary band The London Snorkelling Team to create a truly captivating show.

A LYRIC HAMMERSMITH AND LONDON SNORKELLING CLUB PRODUCTION

Theatre Arena: Sat 17 July

The Island, based on the band London Snorkelling Club's record Audio Recording and Map, is an amazing mix of short animations, music and performance. Using a school over-head-projector the animations are brought to life live on stage as they journey to The Island to be met by an unreliable scientist and an aristocratic magician. Culminating in a magic trick of epic proportions.

Sean Holmes became Artistic Director of the Lyric Hammersmith in January 2009. His first year at the Lyric saw him direct with Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman Ghost Stories (now in the West End), with Filter on Three Sisters and Trevor Griffiths' Comedians starring Keith Allen, Mark Benton and Matthew Kelly. Other recent work as a director includes: Twelfth Night (Tricycle); Loot (Tricycle); Treasure Island (West End); Pornography (Traverse/Birmingham Repertory): The English Game (Headlong); The Man Who Had All The Luck (Donmar Warehouse) and The Entertainer (Old Vic).
Filter were formed in 2001 by actors Ferdy Roberts, Ollie Dimsdale, and musician Tim Phillips. Filter's shows create an on-stage fusion of live and recorded music - their trademark of live integrated sound. In addition to their collaborations with Sean Holmes credits include: Water (Lyric Hammersmith); The Birthday Party and Dumb Waiter (Bristol Old Vic); Girl In The Goldfish Bowl (Crucible Studio) and Playing The Victim (Royal Court).

Mark Benton has had a very diverse career in film, television and theatre. His film credits include Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassu; Breaking And Entering directed by Anthony Minghella; Mike Leigh's Topsy Turvy and Career Girls. Most recognised for starring opposite Robson Green in Christmas Lights, City Lights, Northern Lights and Clash of the Santas on ITV1, his other television credits include Booze Cruise, Hustle, Land Girls, Desperate Romantics, Most Sincerely, Dr Who, The Street, Clocking Off and Early Doors.

On stage he has appeared in Comedians (Lyric Hammersmith); Kosher Harry (Royal Court); The Front Page (Donmar Warehouse); Hurley Burly (Queens Theatre); Devil's Disciple and Richard III (Royal Shakespeare Company).

The London Snorkelling Team are a band who play cocktail / cartoon / crime / space music as they imagine it would have happened in the 1950s. Previous performances include concerts with video artist Dan Kluge in Munich and regular performances at the Shunt vaults and the Stoke Newington International Airport. They are the official orchestra of the London Institute of Pataphysics and have just finished their first Album titled Audio Recording.
