Youth Music Theatre UK - the country's biggest and most active producer of music theatre projects for young people - is searching for talented young musicians to join the orchestras of our nationwide productions this Summer. We hope you can help spread the word!

The auditions are taking place in Edinburgh, Manchester and London and are open to anyone aged between 11-21 from around the UK.

The very best of the young people who audition will be cast in one of six new musicals, to be performed at professional theatres and festivals across the country next Summer. The shows have been created by some of the country's biggest names in theatre and music, including James Bourne (from the bands Busted and Son of Dork) and Howard Goodall (National Ambassador for Singing/Classic FM Composer in Residence).

The nationwide shows include:

Loserville: The Musical by James Bourne and Elliot Davis

A Winter's Tale by Howard Goodall and Nick Stimson

The Chosen Room by Marie Jones (Stones in His Pockets, A Night in November) and Mark Dougherty (Musical Director of Riverdance), with Las Vegas choreographer Gail Davies

Peter Pan by Nick Stimson and Jimmy Jewell (NHS The Musical, Frankenstein for YMT), and

Brian Haw, the moving story behind one of Britain's most notorious political campaigners.

Speaking about the auditions, YMT's Executive Producer Jon Bromwich commented "this is a great opportunity for young musicians to come and work with some of the country's best Musical Directors, and audition for the chance to be in the bands of some amazing productions this Summer".

Songwriter James Bourne, known for being a member of the bands Busted and Son of Dork and as a multi-platinum writer for bands including McFly and Boyzone, is writing Loserville: The Musical especially for YMT. He said: "it's a great thing for young people to get involved with - I'm glad I did stage stuff when I was younger - it's good fun and you meet loads of friends".

Musicians should be skilled to the equivalent of a Grade 7 qualification.
The auditions take place in:

Saturday 28th March: EDINBURGH
Edinburgh University Music Department, Alison House, 12 Nicholson Square

Saturday 4th April: MANCHESTER
Royal Northern College of Music, 124 Oxford Road

Saturday 18th April: LONDON
