Pop Opera Trio Il Volo Performs at the Kennedy Center Tonight

The Kennedy Center today announced the addition of a special vocal event to its 2015-2016 season: Il Volo in concert tonight, February 19, 2016 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 9, 2015.

Critically acclaimed Italian teen pop opera trio Il Volo make their Kennedy Center debut as part of a 35-city U.S. tour to support their new CD Grande Amore. Il Volo members Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble released their first CD in 2011, debuting at number 10 on the Billboard chart. In addition, PBS has recently begun airing Il Volo: Live from Pompeii, a unique look of their recent concert at the legendary ruins of Pompeii. The spectacle marked the first time since 1971 that an artist had performed at this famous archeological site located near present-day Naples, Italy

Il Volo takes the Kennedy Center Concert Hall stage on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $59.50 and will go on sale to the public on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Kennedy Center box office, by calling Instant Charge at (202) 467-4600, or through the Kennedy Center website at www.kennedy-center.org.

Il Volo is comprised of members Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble and have released four albums since 2011: two studio albums, a live album, and a Christmas album. Recently, Il Volo won the "Big Artist" Award at the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival in Italy, which led them to go three times Platinum in Italy with their latest EP and contributed to their sold-out summer tour. They have been guests on numerous TV programs in the United States (The Tonight Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Talk, American Idol, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The Rachael Ray Show), and they also appeared on the final episode of HBO's hit series Entourage. Il Volo sang with Barbra Streisand in 2012, performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City as special guests of Laura Pausini, won a Billboard Latin Music Award, and toured the United States and Latin America with great success.
