NextStop Theatre Sets 2015-16 Season: KISS ME, KATE; CITY OF ANGELS & More

More than ninety percent of the audience-members who attend NextStop Theatre Company productions in Herndon, Virginia come from within a 5 mile radius of the tucked-away theatre, housed in a "covert" warehouse location next to Washington's Dulles Airport. But the hidden theatre company continues to achieve the unusual: enticing DC's top artists to travel outside the beltway.

NextStop Theatre Company has just announced their 2015/2016 line up, and kicking off the season in August 2015, NextStop will welcome Michael Bobbitt to direct an intimate new staging of Cole Porter's classic musical, Kiss Me, Kate. Mr. Bobbitt currently serves as the Artistic Director of Adventure Theatre MTC, as well as regularly directing and choreographing at regional theatres around the country.

In the spring of 2016, NextStop will welcome Sherri Edelen to make her DC-area directing debut with Crimes of the Heart by Beth Henley. Ms. Edelen is one of the most respected actresses in the DC theatre community: an Helen Hayes Award recipient with an impressive seven Helen Hayes Award nominations to her credits.

Also included in NextStop's six-show main stage season will be the world premiere of "The Maternity Project" by Ginna Hoben in September, part of the Women's Voices Festival. Deathtrap, by Ira Leven, will premiere Halloween Weekend in October 2015; and the DC regional theatre premieres of Middletown, by Will Eno, and City of Angels, Cy Coleman's film noir musical, open in January and May 2016 respectively.
