Theater critic and novelist, Tim Treanor, debuts Dracula. A Love Story. at the Capital Fringe Festival, to be held today, July 10-27. A modern take of the Bram Stoker classic, Treanor's production company, Wry Productions, explores contemporary ideas about love and life set in Washington, DC, through this timeless drama.

"Dracula. A Love Story is not just a new way of looking at an old legend. It's a new way of looking at the legend's values and issues in light of what we have learned since then about our passions, human psychology, and about the ambiguous nature of good and evil," says Treanor.

The show is directed by married couple, fathers of twins and long-time DC theater veterans, Chris Henley and Jay Hardee. It stars professional actors Lee Ordeman, Joe Brack, Brian Crane, Christine Hirrel, Carolyn Kashner, Lynn Sharp Spears, and Josh Speerstra, veterans to DC stages such as The Kennedy Center, Studio Theater, Theater J, SCENA, Imagination Stage, Arena Stage, WSC Avant Bard and more.

Along with starring, Lynn Sharp Spears, set and prop designer for the Discovery Channel, built a set and created props that will include an edible dog leg.

Over the past nine years, writer, Tim Treanor has reviewed over five hundred plays for the theater website DC Theatre Scene. He's reviewed musicals for The Sondheim Review, and is now Vice-President of the American Theatre Critics Association. This is his second time crossing the stage. His first play, Murder in Elsinore, enjoyed a local run.
