Signature Theatre to Hold Auditions for Children's Roles in 'Les Miz' 10/19

On Sunday, October 19, Signature Theatre will audition boys and girls, ages 7 – 12, for two singing roles and one non-singing role in its innovative new production of Les Misérables, which will run December 2 through February 22.  Signature is looking for six children (two boys and four girls) all under 50 inches (4' 2''), who will alternate performances in their respective roles.  Auditions will take place at Signature Theatre, 4200 Campbell Avenue, Arlington, VA  22206.  Children of all races are encouraged to audition.

The boy's role is Gavroche, left to fend for himself and live by his wits on the streets of Paris.  Brave and witty, he is a sort of young Artful Dodger.  The vocal range is a B (below middle C) to G, with no British accent.  The boys' auditions begin at 3:00 pm, first-come, first-served with a sign-up sheet starting at 2:30 pm.

The girls' roles are Young Cosette (singing) and Young Eponine (non-singing).  Young Cosette is a trembling little creature, underfed, beaten, and bullied.  She sings "Castle on a Cloud" and must have a vocal range of A (below middle C) to C, with no British accent.  Young Eponine is a pampered young girl who taunts Young Cosette.  The role requires no singing or speaking.  The girls' auditions begin at 5:00 pm, first-come, first-served with a sign-up sheet starting at 2:30 pm.

The children will alternate eight performances a week, Tuesday – Friday evenings with afternoon and evening performances on Saturdays and Sundays.  Rehearsals will begin October 28.
