Next Installment of NYTB at the Duplex will be 7/21

By:

On Monday, July 21, New York Theatre Barn will be presenting its next installment of its monthly show highlighting new composers, writers and artists, NYTB at the Duplex.

The evening will begin with Jenn Furman's new one-woman show, Why Settle?, which will be filled with brass, sass, and song by one saucy chanteuse who won't take "no" for an answer. Why Settle? is written and directed by Bobby Cronin (B.R.A.T.T. Camp, That's Andy) and is music directed by Ray Bailey.

New York Theatre Barn will then present a selection of new material from the writing team of Danny Larsen and Michelle Elliot, who wrote 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival selection The Yellow Wood, which was directed by B.D. Wong. The set will feature the talents of Amy Linden, Brett Teresa, Ashley McHugh and Anthony Fett

In addition New York Theatre Barn will also offer a special presentation from 2008 Fringe Festival selection Underwear: a space musical. The set offers music by Brandon Gwinn and lyrics by Heidi Ervin, and will be directed by NYTB Producing Artistic Director, Joe Barros. This presentation will feature Cait Doyle, Adam Enright and Bethany Stollar.

Those who attend this event will be the first to see the new logo for Wood, the new musical by Julianne Wick Davis and Dan Collins which will be presented in the 2008 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Wood, presented by New York Theatre Barn and Emily Miller, is directed by Thomas Caruso (Mimi LeDuck) and Jason Michael Snow (Saved!, Pirates of Penzance) will lead the cast. Additional cast announcements will be made soon.

The Duplex Cabaret Theater is located at 61 Christopher Street at Seventh Avenue. Tickets are $10 with a two-drink minimum and the show begins at 9:30pm. Reservations are necessary. For reservations please call 212-255-5438.
