Williamstown Casting Complete For 'Sisters' and 'Broke-ology'

By:

The Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced casting for its production of Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov, translated by Paul Schmidt.  Directed by Tony-nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Grey Gardens), Three Sisters will play the Main Stage from July 16-27, 2008.

The cast includes Cassie Beck, Michael Cristofer, Rosemarie Dewitt, Cary Donaldson, Sarah Drew, Manoel Felciano, Jonathan Fried, Jessica Hecht, Stephen Kunken, Peter Maloney, Roberta Maxwell, Keith Nobbs and Joe Tippett.

The design team for Three Sisters includes set design by Allen Moyer, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Ken Posner, sound design by Walter Trarbach, and original music by Michael Friedman.  The production stage manager is Stephen Kaus.

In Chekhov's classic, three sisters (DeWitt, Drew and Hecht) crave a life that is more satisfying than their own and yearn for the passion and excitement of a future in Moscow. The naiveté of unrequited love and the inherent passage of time compel us all to grapple with the delicate question: are the choices made in life always the choices most desired?

On the Nikos Stage, the Festival will present the world-premiere of Broke-ology by recent Julliard graduate Nathan Louis Jackson.  The cast includes Francois Battiste (Prelude to a Kiss, Julliard MFA), Gaius Charles ("Friday Night Lights," Lower Ninth), Wendell Pierce ("The Wire," "Ray") and April Yvette Thompson (Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk Nominee for Liberty City, The Exonerated).  Directed by Thomas Kail (Tony-nominated director of In The Heights), Broke-ology will run on the Nikos Stage from July 9-20, 2008.

The design team for Broke-ology includes set design by Donyale Werle, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Howell Binkley and sound design by Jill DuBoff.  The production stage manager is Jenny Dewar.

In Broke-ology, the King family has weathered the hardships of life and survived with their love for each other intact. But when two brothers are called home to take care of their ailing father, one of them must choose to either follow the life he dreams of or honor the unspoken promise of loyalty to his family.

Tickets for the Williamstown Theatre Festival 2008 Season will go on sale online May 31 at noon (www.wtfestvial.org) and in person or by phone June 3 at 10:00 a.m. ('62 Center for Theatre and Dance Box Office, 413-597-3400).
